Late Night...Again

Ok I am sick, so I will be going to bed quite shortly after this. First of all, Ty should check out today's Get Fuzzy. He'll get a kick of it. If it is not Sunday the 29th anymore, use the calendar and go back to that date! Second, it's leap day for the leap year! Yay, for that I think. Which leaves me the question, what happens to kids born on this day? Really. It boggles my cold clouded mind.
Today was really unproductive, it's gonna bite me in the ass because I needed to get VB done and I can't focus at all. I just can't sit down and do it. Really bad! Tomorrow afternoon I got no choice but to focus especially if I want to hang out with Jenny (if that happens and if she'll let a sick guy visit, I hope so, hopefully I won't be too sick either). So if I am not doing homework this afternoon, yell at me!
Lastly, I did manage this evening to get to Chapter 4 of NWN. I had to kill two more dragons in the process one who is immune to 90% of my offensive spells. It took me 3 trips back to the Temple to finally whack him and I was the only one left standing when I finally felled him with an ice storm. I am very proud but I wanted more XP for that last dragon, I only got 356. Sheesh, no respect at all, I am still insanely far from Level 15 and I'm on the last chapter. Grr...
Well time to grab some Kleenexes-down to the last box already-put my freshly cleaned sheets on the bed and hit the hay. Happy Leap Day everyone. For the couple of friends out there who I know are really down as of late, cheer up, I'm rooting/praying/cheering/whatevering for ya!

Sick

Yup I have a cold again. It sucks but considering how little sleep I got towards the end of the week I did rather ask for it. I got a ton last night (12 hours at least) although phone calls and alarms kept waking me up. But 12 hours is better then none. Just wished I could have finished that dream!
Anywho today is all about homework, so I get to do that inbetween being sick. Isn't that fun? It could be worse, I could be in Haiti right now. It's kind of strange watching a country collaspe from the saftey and comfort of your dorm room. It happens tho, history in the making. I vaguelly remember them (Marines) going in way back when. For the record: I hate VB.

Quick Shot

Ok, despite the posting time on the previous post, these two are quite close together. I was at Cru. Now I am deleting the 4 posts of the prior post so this looks decent. Dang ResNet! The Witch Hunter Robin tonight was superb. Hope you caught it. Time to study now. Test in less then 11 hours.

Sorting Out My Thoughts

Lots of stuff to say I guess. Some I wanted to say last night but went to sleep and got an actual half of sleep. The stuff to pass on however comes from the way of MAHQ and thru the Gunota blog they support. The interest for me is of course Gundam but some big changes for Cartoon Network are coming. First Toonami the afternoon anime segment of Cartoon Network is moving to Saturdays. Also at the same time Cartoon Network gave out their upcoming and new shows. The only sad thing about this is no mention to Adult Swim stuff other then the homebrew stuff that they have for it. I was hoping to hear about other Gundams aside form SEED and other cool anime akin to Witch Hunter Robin.
Sumarizing the two articles tho it's interesting to note that Toonami may be in dire straights of dissapearing if things don't work out. They have been around 7 years now (maybe more) always on the weekday afternoons although they also did Midnight Run (the precursor to Adult Swim in a sense) and a failed venture called Mornings or something like that. Anyhow anime on Cartoon Network was pioneered by them. Without a doubt lately they have been doing more kids shows as anime originally played uncensored on Midnight Run now plays on Adult Swim and let's face it, anime is better uncut. Same for movies, etc. Hopefully it will do well on Saturdays some of the shows they are getting, especially Gundam SEED, are superior and interesting to watch. Anyhow those are my thoughts on anime shows.
The Exalted game proceeds really well. I was surprised how many people responded on my maybe list. Still need to contact Paul and see if he wants in but I could have a huge crew so I have to be careful. I don't want too big a group because this is my first real major attempt at a game and well high power games can be a challenge. Char gen tomorrow! Whee! No weight on my shoulders, riiiight.
Speaking of Exalted, lots of stuff on the forums. Keep reading, spoilers galore!
Cru wasn't too bad. Jenny didn't make it :( but she is sick so I don't want her to hurt herself or feel bad. Just miss her a lot. Hopefully this weekend we can get together. And she hung out with me when I was sick last year so I don't care. Friends stick together you know?
Final comment on trust. Yea, I know you basically went and lied again. For the record I don't trust you at all anymore because a person who lies repeatedly to my face sure ain't scoring any points. At least I only have to deal with you for a few months. I suppose tho you could see this as major test to my faith. I know how hard it is more then ever to "love your neighbor". I am still trying. However you make it nearly impossible. I just hope someday you learn that you don't need to lie and that just being who you are is good enough. You have a girlfriend and friends who care (even if I wonder sometime if I am one of them or not) so why not show them the respect they deserve? That's my spiel, take it however you want.
Tomorrow is a busy day. I have my first CIS test (for 219) tomorrow. It is my first test of the semester in fact. As always breakfast with Lars and lunch with Allison. The highlights of my day (don't make me pick which) although Mario Kart with Allison is also right up. Plus Exalted. Wow, big day! Can't wait.

Ok enough babble, must study. Good night folks.

Morning!

Yes, I am up late. No I don't want to be. I am working on VB again. Actually I am done for now. I hope in 2 hours later today (less then 10 hours from now in fact) I can figure out all the coding side of my VB assignment. I will sleep on it and then work my ass off. Blah.
Some more archived Red vs. Blues were released. Good stuff. Insanely funny. If you haven't checked it out you really should especially if you have played Halo. However it's not a requirement because this is a blast either way. Plus I caught a 2010 reference! Bet most of you haven't seen that (or much less read the very well written book, 2001 sucked, 2010, 2069, and 3001 did so much better). There! Now you have web, movie, and book suggestions, get moving!
Ashley's game went pretty well tonight I thought. Whilst it was a bit low on combat, opting instead on sexual innuendos instead -poor Kevin-, it was still pretty darn good. I hope the one battle we didn't have was because suddenly two of the group turned into two dragons (medium sized but for a dragon that is still huge). Still got to use the breath weapons which was enjoyable. Technically speaking now I have a Gold dragon wyrmling, a grimalkin (named Jaybez, yes after that dog even if the spelling's wrong, what can I say I needed to come up with a personality I'd remember), and a house cat which ocassionally speaks common and rides around on Jaybez's head. Craziness. For future reference: blue dragons have line breath weapons not cones. That's for me cause I neglected to take that into account when I chose that to wild shape into. Hopefully next time will be more combat and outside!!!
Once again the Exalted forums prove very useful. A semi-hidden picture of the Player's Guide background has been found with the Essence beads cover pdf. It looks very cool. Prod Brian was caught off gaurd, usually he leaks art stuff but this time one of the web guys beat him too it apparently. Anyhow he is now leaking some more stuff from UDON so we get double feed! Also Skott Taylor (aka Izzylobo) gave some massive insights into the Realm vs. Lookshy debates. Read about it here. He does a lot to show just why Lookshy is still around and just how dang potent they are. Very useful in my upcoming Exalted campaign. At least the PCs won't lose the better army (that's called foreshadowing players).
Also in the big Exalted news category is the fact that the first published Infernal will be appearing in Blood and Salt. A couple charms were posted and they blow the current power level somewhat away (assuming they are either low or mid level on the charm trees). This however makes sense considering who creates Infernals. It sounds like the Lintha may be a little different then I envision but that is ok, the book will come out after the fact so I will have figured out the Lintha how I like them and can incorporate what I want.
That's all for now. Hope you got your tasty filling of blog. If not peruse the other links over there!

25 February 2004

I should be working

Yes I am in WDMD 101 again. It's very boring. She didn't turn off the monitors thankfully. I should be doing VB right now and I tried opening VB.NET but the damn thing nearly crashed the computer. It is a very shitty program when it comes to using system resources, plus it's help system automatically is updating. I can't stop it. That's really dumb, what if I need to work right now, just to finish something? But now I have to wait or it will freeze (again) making the program useless. Stupid Microsoft.
I will be busy today doing VB. I still have Ashley's game tonight (and it should be good) but after that I need to stay up real late! I can't find the Chapter 4 assignment anywhere on Gibbs' assignment page but I am sure it's hidden somewhere. That's life though. Shouldn't be real hard to do anyhow. Hopefully Gibbs will be delayed by some random thing anyways.

24 February 2004

Madden

Yea, leave the settings at the defaults. That's how real men play (or if they must tweak, they make it harder). For those of you who are confused, don't ask. :D
For those of you considering new computers ->->-> Buy one of these!
Anywho I got Chi Alpha now so this is a really short post!

I'm Not Dead!

..yet.
It's just that ResNet sucks as usual so I can't get on to post unless I go downstairs. Sometime I will get around to contacting those gremlins and have them fix this. Eventually. Right. In the meantime I have been busy with Life. Spent a large amount of the weekend Lars' doing various stuff. Good times. Also managed to kill my first dragon in NWN (only two 3 tries too). My Exalted game is officially on. Details are forthcoming but it will be Friday evenings probably. Character generation will be this Friday for those who can make it (which looks to be about half) and then I will attempt to start the Friday after that. Stressful times for me in some ways I guess but I got a test moved back so at least I will have that stress spread out a little.
3 more days. (You know who you are, good luck with that)

20 February 2004

I must be nuts

Why did I suddenly just care about that? It's just a freakin' movie. Then again, when did I ask a group to vote on it? Damnit, I didn't ask the group to go to Kill Bill in the first place. So when I felt like being a bum and staying here and watching Black Hawk Down I didn't know it would be voted on by the conglomerate. You know what, I don't really care tho. Just leave me alone.

Yay

Congrats on 2 months and 1 day! Faith manages :) To someone else: hope you can make it past 14. I dunno if you read this, but you got another person cheering for you!

19 February 2004

1/6 of a year.

1/6 of a year since Dec. 19. remember that day! 10000 points if you can guess why!

Steiner Fan Club of America

Some of you 3 occasional readers may have by accident noticed that the blog has a new link. It's too the soon to be world famous Steiner fan club. Now admittedly the webpage is a bit small at the moment but that's because it is brand new. The webmaster-no, not me-has promised more work when he gets motivated so expect new content in the next 30 years or so. Don't worry I'll let you know. In the meantime, give your support to Steiner!
Other news: I'm tired. Why do I have to go to Geog 110? It's POINTLESS! More pointless then this blog, which says a lot. Was very sleepy and yes Brad that class is very silly!
Last night's D & D game was alright. We have some not very bright people playing which is kinda frustrating. I got the people who'd I'd roleplay with down in my head and it's not the longest list. For one, your stupid alignment is more of a guideline then a code! Sheesh some people do things that no matter how suicidal it is to themselves or the party do it "because that's my alignment". Dang it, terrorists are prolly chaotic evil and they don't do dumb things that wipe out their entire organizations! That is why small groups are better, especially when the DM/ST/whatever picks who he/she wants to play in the game. However my Psion did "see" the future and one PC did die. How's that for irony? I can call 'em where they fall now. Looking forward to Ashley's game next Wed. Lots of high power dragons running around and they all work for me!!!!
Cru tonight. Allison said she is going and hopefully Jenny will come. Here's hoping for actually having two of my friends to sit with. I'll settle for just one tho. In Jenny's case it is the only time I get to see her so it kinda sucks when she doesn't show. Well as they say: "Faith manages"
Time to go do something other then studying (for most of you that means checking out the Steiner Fan Club). :D

18 February 2004

More Stuff

Hey the boredom continues! Anyhow some other things you might care about: Star Wars IV-VI are coming out on DVD Sept. 21st. I will be in London by that time so I will have to wait til December (probably a Christmas present unless Nobilis still hasn't made it!). They are the special editions so fans of the originals will be dissapointed. Don't think those will ever reach the realm of DVD except thru illegal means.
Disney now owns the Muppets. Check Sci-Fi Wire (see the sidebar link).
Witch Hunter Robin was fairly impressive last night. The show looks to be as much a thinking show as a fighting show. This is good, I prefer plot and story to just wanton violence. If you want random violence watch bad shows that run in the afternoons on Cartoon Network.

Bored...Already?!?

Yes I am in WDMD 101 again. How did you guess? Well at least now I can get this up without much effort. If you've noticed things occasionally are double (or more) published. This is due to ResNet's suckiness not stupidity of the author! Well mostly not the stupidity of the author. Shhhh!
Ate at the Wooden Spoon for the first time today. It was very good and probably the healthiest meal I have had in awhile. Plan to eat there on Wed. more often. Plus I like the company I eat with. Yay for Allison!
If you didn't vote yesterday, shame on you! I was surprised how well Edwards did, very pleased tho too. Dean just announced today that he is dropping out. So now it is left to two (unless you think Kucinich and Sharpton can rally or even counted in the first place) for Super Tuesday. I still don't think Edwards will make it even tho I am rooting for him causing an upset. Wisconsin finally mattered however so yay for us!
Chi Alpha keeps bombarding me with deep thoughts. I am actually worried tho because although I think the intention is to strengthen my faith I feel like mine is being attacked in some sense around the base. Its a little much and I don't get much of a chance to talk to people about it one on one. Have to hash it out Friday over breakfast with Lars. My faith is a serious issue for me and lately its been on my mind quite a bit. Guess I finally cleared my mind of enough junk to be able to address things. To quote Heinlein however: I need time to grok all of this.
Jumping totally to a different subject now, I managed to finish a on the fly Solar Exalt Sorcerer. He/She is quite powerful, I was rather inspired by Kingdom of Halta and Dani's imaginative use of spells in D & D to pick a somewhat wider variety of spells. Also I put alot of XP (I was genning for my 1000 XP game) towards Esscense (9 - Personal: 36 Peripheral: 82) and WP of 9 as well. That means in summoning spells you get 18 dice to roll. Not sure but I think this might even allow some ease in summoning 3rd Circle Demons (aka the Green Sun from my Circle story). Of course 3rd Circles aren't statted-grr- so I will have to do that if in my game someone does that. Thankfully they can only be summoned over Calibration. The only real weakness is that the sorcerer has hardly any charms. He/she only has the Violet Bier of Sorrows MA (whole tree) and 5 Ox-Bodies. I figure however there will be Circlemates or flunkies to cover while the heavy fire power is released. Spell breakdown: 23 Terrestrial, 15 Celestial, 12 Solar.
It looks like I may have person #4 for my game. If I could get Ben to commit then I would have #5 but that is not he works. Adam says if he can get to UWSP he'll guest play. Things may eventually come together. Hopefully. Probably too late.
Relating back to class, this book which the Prof is lecturing from is hopelessly off key for IRC and web forums. You can't learn this stuff from a book at least not right. Perhaps that's true for all cultures. In which case my Geog 120 is a waste of time. Thinking about it I can understand how you can only know a culture by expierencing the culture first hand. Reading books or newspapers, etc only give a glimpse into the world. I post of forums and use IRC. I used to be very active on AmbrosiaSW's web forums and IRC. I still hit the IRC #ev3 maybe once a month for old time's sake.
Ok I think that is all for now. Continous flow of thought: offline.

Circle (Pt 2)

The winged figure arced gracefully in for a silent landing among the shadowed spires of the darkened city. In the deepening evening only the soldiers far below moved, on patrol, little aware of the activity above them. Far from the Infernoes that racked these lands the two met in silence.
"Is it true?" the leader asked.
"It is," reported the new arrival, "Roma aeternia is gone. The Himmel has been levelled. Most of the Order is gone. Those who survived are scattered and demoralized."
"What of the Templars?"
"Worse then the Engel. I did not encounter any nor did I hear of any reports."
"What of the army that did this?"
"I saw no such army, but whereever they are, they must be coming to here next. Gratianopel stands in the way of any advance further onto the continent."
"Rally what survivors you can find. I will coordinate defense and searches from here. We cannot lose another Himmel to these demonic imposters from the other side."
The first Engel dropped suddenly to the floor, an ivory knife portruding from his back. The wielder of the knife stood silently facing the shocked survivor. For a moment there was a peaceful stillness. Then a flaming sword swung towards Lucien. It clattered to the ground half a meter from his presence, a second ivory knife embedded in the attacker's chest.
Lucien, Gaurdian of Sleep and Demon of the Second Circle under Orabilis whispered into the dying Engel's ear as he retrieved his weapons: "For your deaths I am free, strange one. I warn you thus, there are far greater powers then I approaching this citadel but you will not be able to tell anyone of this. My job is done."
In the morning Gratianopel lay in ruins, and the searchers hardly noticed that two of the bodies had died quite before the place was razed.

Author's Note: I'm just toying around with the powers of the various Demons in Exalted. The enemy they slay is from a minor White Wolf product called: Engel (thru Sword and Sorcery Studios). I am also trying out my writing skills in an attempt to broaden my descriptive horizons for running an Exalted game. At some point I am going to attempt to deal with the thorny issue of this type of "demons" and Christianity. I am not sure I will be able to give you any valid points but I will let you know what I think. Or not, depends on what I do. Hope you enjoy these tiny intelligable bits of fiction I spit out.

ZZzzzzzzz

Zzzzz ...wake up.. oh ok.. i am awake now.. WDMD is once again intellectually stimulating enough to allow me to write this.

Frozen Wasteland Counts

...but for today only.
It's primary day so get out there and vote. If we were anywhere near Chicago I'd say vote repeatedly. Anyhow get out there and use your one true right (all that other stuff is worth nothing if you don't vote)!

Witch Hunter Robin looks pretty good, the initial episode wasn't real flashy but that isn't nessecarily a bad thing. The animation is superb. A lot of veteran voice actors on the show so an impressive dub cast in my opinion.
Some more release for Exalted have been plotted out. Last week of March/first week of April the Player's Guide comes out. In May is AB: Earth. Also esscense counters but those don't interest me very much. I await the wall scroll (if it's a map of Creation).

Colossal

Twism: 120ft long, 22ft tall, 15 ft wide, 135 ft max wingspan, 60 ft min wingspan. Average (minimum) weight: 1,280,000 lbs (or about 640 tons-if my math is right). Dimensions for a great wyrm Gold dragon.

Chaos

With my feet on the edge all I can think is....
"I'm a soldier, these shoulders hold up so much. They won't budge, I'll never fall or fold up. I'm a soldier, even if my collar bones crush or crumble, I will never slip or stumble. I'm a soldier, these shoulders hold up so much. They won't budge, I'll never fall or fold up. I'm a soldier, even if my collar bones crush or crumble, I will never stumble"

Circle

Flames licked at the sides of the stockade. Death had come. The bodies of the Templar lay strewn about, broken and lifeless. The shattered hastas of the enemy littered the ground. Lucien walked through the charred wreckage examining the annihilation. The Celestial Exalted had sent only two demons to do this: the Gaurdian of Sleep and the Green Sun (fetich of Malfeas himself). Once the tallest Himmel in all the lands now lay in ruins about him. The Engel who flew in its defense were gone, smote from the sky or fled to some other venue.

From what he had known prior to being sucked away from his realm and his lord, Lucien knew that this war had been waged for some time. The opening between Creation and this realm of the Engel had been unexpected even for his master. The entrance of flying men with powers akin to the God Blooded threatened to collaspe the fledgling new Realm growing up from the broken Imperial dynasty.

The Exalted had responded slowly to the raiders and their armies. Their forces had been attempting to rebuild what once was lost, to return to the former glory of what was the First Age. Another war they did not want nor need. Yet war comes to those who do not want them. The legions marched...

"Here is your evidence, Exalt." he said tossing the head to the sorcerer, "Your war is over."

To be continued...

SQL

Yes I am finally getting a decent grasp on this simple script/code whatever it counts as. Well at least I think I am, guess I will find out once the assignment is graded. In the meantime I am starving but can't eat til suppertime cause I have been eating too much (and all of its been bad for me) so I need to cutback on the munching of excess food. I should read VB but am tempted not too.
It remains to be seen if whatshisname is really sick is or is just using that excuse to miss class and have people feel sorry for him. Sheesh I went to class with mono and did just fine so sometimes I wonder when people miss for anything less then that. Highly doubt anyone agrees with me tho. Not my problem.
I should complain less I think. However I do enjoy complaining, I think everyone does and when I am in a sour mood complaining is easy to do. If anyone asks why I am in a sour mood I point to what day this weekend was and the fact I have a ton of VB which I need to do. Nuff said!
Witch Hunter Robin: tonight at 11 PM on Adult Swim. It looks good so check it out.

On the Edge of Creation

"Legend speaks that the first race that the Primordials created was not what has been recorded in the annals of history..."

History forgets things. The farther back one looks the bigger things are forgotten. It is really not that hard to forget a single person, place, or thing when it comes to the big picture. And let's face it, history is about the big picture. The name of someone that did something somewhere eventually fades into the mists of legend, myth, and then is forgotten. This is how it has always been and always will be.
Creation is no exception. Even in this day most of the people have forgotten the grandeur of the previous Age and its leaders. Those people forgot who they had warred with to become leaders and thus doomed themselves to a slow silent rot which fell them all the Chosen of the Gods. Now they are feared or forgotten, enigmas in what was once their own front porches and backyards.
Creation itself is forgotten. Its edges molested and tattered by the Fae, abandoned by the very people who would keep it whole the threads continue to unravel until who nations which once stood in shining splendor have faded and melted away into chaos and oblivion. The world is a former shadow of itself, which (although noone remembers) is a meer shadow of itself. In esscense it is a shadow of a shadow, a sad desolate place. What lies beyond those borders noone remembers. For all they care it is nothing but the sheer chaos which the Fair Folk claim as their home.
They are quite wrong. For unbeknowest to all one race still dwells in between the chaos and the concrete able to function equally well in either. What exactly they are is unknown, noone remembers of course. Noone even knows they exist, except perhaps some fallen Primordial; but the Yozi care little for such things, all they want now is revenge.
There is only one thing known about this race. They set the sides for the war: lawful, neutral, and evil. They set the scales with which time would judge the actions of all.

Shadow Raiders

Busy day. Didn't get to see Miracle but sometime says Brent if Max doesn't ditch. I'm okay with that tho. I got to spend the evening with Ash and Harm, missed Jenny's party but couldn't get in touch with her until I got back. I am sad I missed it but hopefully I will get to have many more opportunities to hang out with her. I spent the earlier part of the day sorting cards for Jason Winter(s?) of Scrye. Got some old videos from the now-defunct series Shadow Raiders (also known as War Planets) I used to watch the show at my Grandma's house before she died, I remember killing a couple Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings watching. Good memories, never thought I'd see that show again. I looked it up on the web, it lasted two seasons and actually finished in 1999. Now granted that's 5 years ago now (when did 1999 get so darn far back in the past, I coulda sworn it was yesterday!) but I remember that show well. I was gonna write some fiction here for your general amusement but do to searching for info on Shadow Raiders I am now just gonna hit the sack. Jeff's making breakfast for the guys at Peace and that would include me. And it's not like I'm behind on sleep or anything!

13 February 2004

Ebonica

No I am not gonna do this all in ebonics but sometimes its fun to speak it. Anyhow today was pretty darn good in case you care, if you don't not exactly sure why you are reading this. Perhaps you have too much free time. In which case go do something akin to exercise, it'll be good for you. Because after this blog there is only this.
I now am in the possesion of one pink teddy bear clutching a slightly darker pink heart which has a small red heart and the word "Love" on it. Jenny has decided he is a he. So he needs a name, else I will pick a name. Hmm, I might pick a name anyhow but you can give input if you'd like. Granted he would be great for a Valentine's Day gift but I have no girl and lately am not really interested in looking. Waaaaaay too much stuff to do, school wise, fun wise, and already planned into my daily life schedule wise. So he will get to find a comfy corner on the loft and do what I wish I could all day: sleep. If anyone comments that this was written past 1 AM you will be maimed by Wyld mutant squirrels armed with toothpicks. So :P to you!
Speaking of Valentine's Day, I am not real big on the whole concept of giving Valentines anyhow. I'm only really go out of my way for my sig. other and everyone else well by now you should know that I am horrible with gift getting and all. My gift will be to leave ya all alone for the day so you can spend it with your special someone. How's that? Betcha you can't top it. Besides I got stuff planned all that day already.
Getting onto something else: Lookshy is powerful stuff. If they wanted to they could easily conquer most of the Scavenger Lands less maybe Great Forks and Nexus and more then likely they could siege and subdue both of them eventually. It is amazing that they followed their directive and pretty much dug in to await the true leader of the Shogunate to rise up. Not sure such a thing would ever happen but who knows. I'd like to tie them in on the side of good but they are Immaculates thru and thru. Seperate from the puppethead Immaculates of the Realm but they seem to believe roughly the same thing when it comes to Anathema. Going to make the game tough for my group, without Lookshy I highly doubt a successful war versus the amassed armies of the Yozi, Fae, Deathlords, and Lunars will be stopped and of the same token without Anathema Lookshy has no chance. And by the time they realize they need even Anathema help it will be too late so it's up to the PC's to influence them differently. Now granted this is not the only route to victory but militarily it is one of the more obvious ones in my opinion.
Final thoughts: Ebon Dragon has an embassy near Creation. Yes be warned PCs you can know no more!

Blah to ResNet

Well woulda said something yesterday but most of the day I wasn't in the talking/typing mood. When I was ResNet decided that me using the Internet was bad. So yes no posting allowed for me. Not like you missed much. Well ya know I did have a sign from God. Personal thing tho so I can't tell all you folks. Just letting you doubters out there know, He does exist.
BTW I dislike ResNet. They make 56k connections seem good at times. Hope cable and dsl aren't like that.

Friends

Thank God for them :) Sure I still have my troubles but its nice to know there is some support for me out there.

Midnight on the Firing Line

It's not midnight but I am gonna be doing other stuff at that time so just deal with it. Tonight's been too deep for me. Really troubling in some ways. Anyhow a friend who quit talking to me as of late is really on my mind because I don't know why they quit talking to me or what I did wrong. I am really confused because I know nothing and well sheesh it sucks to be out of the loop when something is up between you and someone else.
Plus you guys gave me some deep spiritual stuff to think about. I need time to grok this. (If don't know what grokking is well read some Heinlein I guess.)

Life in this lane.

"Los Angeles," says the Witch-King of Angmar. "We are going to Los Angeles."

Well today so far has been interesting. Got out of VB class early due much in thanks to my prof going to Austria later tonight and needing more time to prepare. Also got to talk to my favorite (ex-) blonde today which I haven't done in awhile. It's interesting in a world of electronic communication how far apart we still are. Maybe if they invent transporters we'll get closer, but probably not. More then likely it'd only make things worse. Dig into that if you dare! Gonna work out later this afternoon, should be good, tempted to try something new(!?!?!) rather then the same old. I want to read and my normal routine doesn't take that into account. I wish I still had someone to work out with but she doesn't keep her promises which I already knew so I should obviously smack myself on the forehead and know better. Alas, I am slow to change.
So for all its worth keep up with things. Read the other blogs out there especially, Brent's and RSB's. I suppose I should give a quick overview of those on the side right now so you can know what is up.

View from a Height: this one I just randomly found. It talks to my conservative side. Whoever does it is very pro Israeli so if you think the Palestinians are the next things to Saints you won't enjoy it. Thoughtful commentary at times tho.
Folky's Blog: This is the blog of guy who used to live across the hall from me. Now he lives in another wing. He's really conservative, more then me if such things are possible.
Brent's Blog: One of the Chi Alpha guys. Some deep thoughts and stuff, I just found out about his so I haven't dug in too deep.
Ashley's Blog: From GASP. Her insights on life and all that fun stuff. Usually interesting things along the lines of "What [insert noun here] are you?"
RSB: The Blog of Rebecca Sean Borgstrom, one of the premier writers now for Exalted. Also well known for Nobillis which Amazon has yet to send me (GRR!). Good short stories. She is a fanastic fantasy writer.
Scott Taylor's Journal: Aka izzylobo on the Exalted forums. Another writer for Exalted but a newer one I know less about. I keep it because he might like Exalted info. That is important, yes.
Chronicles of Neph: Another Exalted writer and the most active of them on the forums.

The Dragons of the Forest

To Cevis Ghandarva, the monk said, "I have found a thing of use to us."
"And what is that?" said Ghandarva.
"None of us need ever die."

What makes a better friend? One who always says good things about you or one who will stand up and tell you the truth? I am not sure which I should be anymore. It seems when I tell the truth I just cause trouble. Perhaps I should just learn to hold my tongue.

Yesterday was interesting. Saw Howard Dean speak, went to first Chi Alpha small group (note I added Brent's blog). Fairly busy, not sure if it was productive. Depends on what a person would classify as productive. In the meantime I continue to plod on with my mundane boring life. Go figure.

Ack!

I was thinking about people today. Why don't they keep in touch real well? I have a half dozen friends who I try and e-mail or call or whatever and they never seem to make an effort to keep in touch like that. Does it just not matter to them? Would they rather I just quit trying to keep in touch? Sometimes I think I should just cut all ties with people. I make a lot of efforts and alot of times it comes to nothing. It's rather depressing at times.

It's Not Bubble Trouble

Let's see. Things to talk about today: did a massive amount of VB. Caught up in fact. How about that? It is fairly easy at this point so I guess I am lucky. Gibbs will be gone most of this week and next but alas still tons of assignments. Already know what I will be doing next Sunday afternoon. Welcome to my wonderful life. Did I mention Monday afternoons are exclusively Oracle time now? Me and Dustin got that down already. At least I don't have math anymore.
NWN continues to absorb absurd amounts of my time. I have lost a fair amount of sleep due to it. I continue to blame Lars for this. It's all his fault! Yes it is :P However the game is quite enjoyable although the dang traps still kill me if I'm not careful. Druids to some extent are sissies especially ones whose Constitution is a 9!
I was paging through Kingdom of Halta yesterday and read up on the loss of the Tepet legions (incidentally there is a lot of new material on them, there is stuff in AB: Air too). Now it didn't occur to me til today but considering the number of people who died and comparing it to the number of Celestial Exalted (Solars, Sidereals, and Lunars of which I think at least one Lunar was present not sure) plus Second Circle Demons the proportion is insane.
Let's consider. Two Sidereals whipe out the capital city of an entire nation (a minor one granted, but probably as powerful as the average Hundred Kingdoms nation) all by themselves. Consider also the nasty way they did it (I figured initially it was by some charms but this makes more sense): Cantata of Empty Voices (30 motes) Celestial Circle Spell; This spell summons a choir of crystalline voices, whose tones bring agony and death to all those within earshot, liquefying their brains within their skulls.
Nice stuff eh? That is the first paragraph of the spell, if you are familiar with Exalted mechanics, it deals 1L damage per turn soakable only with stamina. So mortals, even heroic, are dead within 7 turns of hearing the Voices. Most of them are dead in 3. Now granted a starting Solar sorcerer is barely going to have enough Essence to be able to fuel this spell and it's only going to last at max 4 rounds but still that kills every non-heroic mortal within earshot which can be a fair distance. We are talking a huge amount of killing power in the sorcery far beyond anything most other games start you out at. Consider D & D at Level 1. You can barely fight anyone much less wipe out an entire city. Pretty much all the D20 system games are the same and just about all the other games I have read are similiar. BESM has the potential to be that destructive but even then it's not real likely.
Collecting my wonderful thoughts here. I am attempting to put together and run a high XP (1000+) Exalted game. If low level Exalts are capable of such destruction just imagine what high level ones can do. Scary isn't it? I think when I run the game, morality of the players is going to be as much an issue as actually saving Creation. Because if everyone is dead, who have they saved Creation for?

Shame

Sometimes I can't believe what alcohol does to my friends. It really saddens and worries me.

Fridays!

Whee! Out of class early and the other two Exalted books arrived (Kingdom of Halta and Aspect Book: Air) so lots of reading. Had breakfast with Lars and that was good stuff despite getting up early for it. Neverwinter Nights continues to cut into my sleep time. Have to work on that cause I am not gonna survive on no sleep for very long.
Last night my roommmate succeeded in getting really hammered. According to him the worst ever. Then I watched some of his fellow frat members (TKE if you need to know which dumb frat) get into a fight in the circle. More proof that social frat's exist for people to get together to get drunk and be dumb. They serve no purpose. Please note academic frat's are different in my opinion. My roommate does not appreciate my sentinements. I call this denial. Sober up!

The Outcaste

Life as an Renegade Demigod...
Or not.
Well Outcastes showed up. Very cool stuff. 7th Legion rather dominates the Threshold. This book will really help out my plans for an uber-scenario in Exalted! If I ever get around to running it but getting players has been a challenge thus far.

Sure

30 hour days would be good, but I would prefer less weekdays and more weekends...

No Commentary

I've noticed (and it's been mentioned by people) that the page seems to load kind of slowly. After watching the Activity window that Safari provides I have determined that this seems to be related to the CommentThis comment functions. So for the time being I have removed them, I will see about putting one of the other comment systems on sometime in the future but for now afraid you're gonna be unable to tell me how stupid I am unless you actually know me in person.
On a side note, Red vs. Blue has put up episodes 3-5 from season one. Enjoy!

Tired yet?

Ok, Neverwinter Nights is already killing me. I was up til 3 AM because of that game. It's addictive, so be warned. Twism reports that apparently Mac users can use the PC expansions but that also involves me paying for said expansions so that may not happen for a few months, years, or decades (have to save money for next semester overseas afterall).
Amazon finally shipped everything (minus Nobillis which may never be shipped) so next week I will have bounty of Exalted stuff to read! Yay for me, if only I had more free time to actually do the reading. As of right now too much of my free time comes from my sleep time, a common thing for college students I've noticed. Possibly we need to get the next President to lengthen the day to 30 hours so we can get a hour more sleep each night.

More Anime News

Well it appears that Gundam SEED will begin airing on Cartoon Network April 17th. Should be good stuff, I have the first few episodes on Harvey and they are quite good. Still up in the air (but perhaps coming out about the same time) is Gundam Zeta. It's been announced for awhile and is supposed to run on Toonami and Adult Swim. Considering that Adult Swim is due more shows (and according to people even more into anime then me the Gundam 30[?]th anniversay is coming up April 27th) the timing would be about right. I point you to MAHQ which has some details.

Live from WDMD 101

Yes, I am doing this from WDMD 101. The class is kinda boring so I am going to be productive, especially since Neverwinter Nights arrived I am now going to be spending time doing that so I can get in on some multiplayer games with Lars and company. Should be good times as the GPA begins to plummet.
I finally got around to picking up my last text rental book and had some time to kill before my only class today (this one!) so I went to the Pointer Express for the first time. Not too bad, but not great either. Try it out sometime.

Side note - I decided to do my BUS330 term paper on the Power Mac G5.

News

Finally Adult Swim adds a new show. The show itself is new to me- "Witch Hunter Robin"-but considering the pool of anime out there this isn't a big surprise. Hopefully it's better then "Blue Gender" was. It is slated to show 11pm so I won't even lose much sleep if it turns out decent.

Thoughts.

The world is filled with 3 kinds of people. 1. Immature - Sadly the world is filled with a lot of this kind 2. Immature people who think they are not immature but are actually more immature than the people that know they are immature .... Unfortunately the world is filled with more of this kind than any other kind. 3. People smart enough not to be immature.

The People Speak (and I put in my own $0.35)

Primaries for today are in. Kerry and Edwards are going on and Dean is on the way out (along with everyone else). What do I say about this? Yay for America! We have some common sense!
Thanks to Allison for trooping out to Schmeekle in the snow drifts, it made my day to be able to get out there and enjoy it with someone. A shout out to the Chi Alpha crew too, you guys are great! Sadly yes, I haven't even had this thing running for a two days and I am making shout outs. What can I say people make my days good or bad, everything else is just excess stuff. Except maybe God but that's a place for another rant.

Morning Commentary

Yes I am doing this instead of VB. But frankly the way VB is taught (ala Gibbs) is really horrible. So I am not going to get around to it right away! I really could use a nap but despite being really really really tired in class I am always wide awake when I get back to the dorms. Thus I can't nap. Speaking of napping, Twism (that'd be Ty for those who don't know him), you won the sorta bet on when my roommate would sleep thru his new 8 AM class. He did it yesterday.
How about that snow tho? Everything is nice clean white for a little while. Time to go exploring while its like this!

First multi primary day of the election year. Go out and vote for anyone but Dean! Personally I'd go Edwards but Kerry is ok too (sorry Katy, a canidate needs a better platform then "I hate Bush"/"Bush is bad").

Comment This!

Yea, now we have comments. We are getting a ton of snow. If only they canceled all classes tomorrow. But they haven't in 26 years! So think of that, while you are sleeping in tomorrow I am slogging thru snow to take a quiz in a very boring class. And you thought your life sucked!

Setting Up

Got most of the settings put configured. Invited some folks to join up and add their own random inputs. Yes, this is taking shape. Flee fools!
Oops just noticed the time is a few hours off of ol' CST. Isn't this fun? Can you believe you are wasting your time on this?!? (Me neither but this is better then homework)
Ok, now I am gonna try and get links to work in the main body of my blog. Looks like I have to do it manually. What's that mean? Well to get this LINK I have to actually manually put this thing in: "a href="http://mirv120.blogspot.com">LINK /a".
Ok, if anyone ever wonders, this is coming out of a chilly hole in Wisconsin called Stevens Point. Specifically it's snowed in University campus here. So here you can get mundane useless opinions about this lovely locale and whatever random junk I decide to throw on here when I'm bored.
Gee, first shot at this blogging thing. Wonder how long I will keep this up.
